About Level Up

Skills that matter. Confidence that lasts.

Level Up is a hands-on life skills program designed primarily for teens. The idea behind it is simple.

Why it exists

Some of the skills teens will rely on most do not fit neatly into a traditional classroom.

Level Up intentionally gives teens opportunities to learn and practice these kinds of skills before they are expected to figure everything out on their own. Level Up helps teens answer the following questions:

  • How do you shut off the water when something leaks?
  • How do you use basic tools?
  • How do you build a budget?
  • How do you recognize a scam?
  • How do you speak up for yourself?
  • How do you handle conflict?
  • How do you follow through when something gets difficult?

The big idea

Confidence grows through competence.

Teens become more confident when they have real experiences doing hard, unfamiliar, or useful things successfully. Using a drill for the first time, unclogging a toilet, creating a budget, advocating for themselves, recognizing a scam, handling a disagreement respectfully, or figuring out what to do when they do not immediately know the answer.

"I haven't learned how to do that yet, but I can probably figure it out."

WHY TEENS

A unique window of opportunity.

Teens are old enough to take on real responsibility, solve more complex problems, and do many things for themselves, but they are still shaping their ideas about what they are capable of.

A safe place to try

Teens can try something new, make mistakes, ask questions, problem-solve, and try again.

Evidence they are capable

Each new skill gives teens proof they can handle more than they may have thought.

Gradual, not overnight

The goal is judgment, confidence, and practical experience built over time.

Eventually, every teen becomes the adult in the room.

Let's help them feel ready.
